About NeedleAndHoop

NeedleAndHoop helps people choose and use sewing gear: sewing machines, embroidery machines, sergers, and the needles, thread, hoops and cutting tools that go with them.

Where our information comes from

• How-to and care information (threading, tension, needles, oiling, stabilizers) comes from machine makers' manuals and support pages (Brother, SINGER), needle and thread makers (SCHMETZ, DMC, Madeira, Gütermann, Superior Threads), cutting-tool maker OLFA, and university Cooperative Extension publications. We cite the source on every page.
• Product details come from maker specifications and retail listings, and we say so (“per the listing”).

What we don't do

We don't test machines in a lab or sewing room, and we don't invent ratings, scores or test results. When sources disagree, we say so. When your machine's manual says something different from a general guide, follow the manual.
